Frequently Asked Questions
About The Products
My products fall into 3 general categories:
Luxury Statement Pieces
Signature Small Batch Collection
One of a Kind Creations
My “luxury statement pieces” items are those intentionally created as unique and one of a kind; they are not able to be reproduced or recreated. The reason may be the characteristics of the wood can’t be reproduced, the item form / shape can’t be reproduced and/or it’s an item created with intension to be the only one of it’s kind. Some of the items in this collection include: The Egg & The Comet Collection and many of my more unique vases.
Signature Small Batch Collection these are items that are often created in small batch quantities. They are a standard item in my product line and will be recreated for purchase / re purchase again and again. Although the wood will look different (as all wood is unique in it’s markings) the product look, feel and pattern will remain the same, although I may change up small details in these products to keep the items fresh and current. Just a few of the products we have in this line are: Plant propagators, salad tongs, chopsticks and the GHW Logo Merch.
One of a Kind Creations are items I have personally created & can be replicated. These are items like basic shape vases and bowls. The form itself is replicatable, I simply have not made multiples at this time.
These are items that can be ordered and custom made if they are out of stock or be created in “multiples” for special occasions like weddings & other events.
Please go to my “custom order” page and message me.

How does shipping work for online orders?
We ship via USPS or UPS daily from Monday to Saturday.
Typically, orders are processed within 2-3 business days, excluding the holiday season.
Please note, as a small business, we have no control over shipping costs, potential increases, or delivery times imposed by 3rd party shipping carriers.
We appreciate your understanding and patience as we strive to get your handcrafted items to you in a safe and timely manner.
What does “Live Edge” mean in product name or description?
"Live Edge" refers to the natural, irregular edge just below and possibly including the bark, capturing the essence of the living tree.
Identifiable by its unique and organic appearance, maintaining the live edge, especially with bark, demands a high level of skill and understanding of wood and harvesting processes. This craftsmanship contributes to the distinct character of each piece. It's essential to note that the inclusion of a live edge, with its intricate details and added complexity in handling, often results in a higher product price.
I take pride in preserving the authentic beauty of each live edge creation, showcasing the raw, natural charm of the wood.
Where are your products made?
All products are made by Doug in his Northern New Jersey studio, proudly 100% made in the USA. Approximately 98% of the wood material used in my projects is sustainably reclaimed. Because we live in Northern NJ, the vast majority of the wood comes from within about a 100 mile radious of our northern New Jersey home. We work with tree companies, clients as well as sustainably minded neighbors, friends and contacts to source our wood material.

Where do you source your wood materials, and how sustainable are they?
Located in New Jersey, I proudly use sustainably reclamimed wood material for ~98% of my handcrafted products.
The primary wood types—maple, oak, cherry, and walnut—are all native to the New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, and Maryland region.
Ensuring sustainability is a priority, 98% of the wood is responsibly and sustainably acquired, from trees naturally downed in storms or removed for safety reasons. We also work with construction and flooring companies to reclaim wood material that would go to the landfill.
This commitment not only supports the local ecosystem but also contributes to the unique character of each piece. Feel good about your purchase—knowing it's not just a beautiful creation but one rooted in responsible, eco-friendly practices
