Elevate Your Entertaining with Natural Artistry

Transform your next gathering with this stunning serving tray and bowl set that seamlessly blends functionality with natural beauty. Master craftsman Doug Hill has created a versatile entertaining piece that's as beautiful displayed in your home as it is practical for serving.

Three Beautiful Woods, One Cohesive Design

This exceptional set showcases the artistry of combining three distinct reclaimed woods:

Spalted Spruce Tray: The foundation of this set features reclaimed spalted spruce from Rockland County, NY, rescued from a tree that came down in a recent storm. The spalting process has created gorgeous gray streaks throughout the light blonde to amber wood, adding dramatic character and contrast. The wide grain pattern beautifully displays distinct growth rings, telling the story of years of natural growth.

Sapele Mahogany Rails: Two elegant rail "feet" crafted from rich reclaimed Sapele mahogany provide both stability and visual contrast, elevating the tray in traditional sushi server style while adding sophisticated warmth to the overall design.

Reclaimed Pear Bowl: The accompanying 5" diameter bowl, turned from reclaimed pear wood, offers the perfect complement for dips, sauces, or standalone serving. The pear wood's smooth, refined grain provides beautiful contrast to the dramatic spalted spruce.

Designed for Versatility

At 14.75" long × 6" wide × 1.5" high, this tray offers generous serving space while maintaining an elegant profile. The natural live edge means each tray in our set of four is beautifully unique, with usable surface areas ranging from the full 6" width down to 4" width, creating organic variations that add to each piece's individual character.

The bowl sits freely on the tray surface (no recess) with its own footed base, giving you maximum flexibility for arranging and serving.

Perfect for Modern Entertaining

While excellent for traditional sushi service, this versatile set shines for contemporary entertaining:

  • Charcuterie and appetizer service with the bowl for olives, nuts, or spreads

  • French dip sandwiches with au jus in the bowl

  • Wings and dipping sauce for casual gatherings

  • Artisanal bread and oil/vinegar for dinner parties

  • Cheese and crackers with accompanying spreads

Beautiful Beyond the Table

When not serving food, this set doubles as elegant home décor. Use the tray as a decorative riser for candles, small plants, or seasonal displays. The bowl serves perfectly as a standalone piece for nuts, potpourri, or as accent décor.

Unique Craftsmanship Details

Each set tells a continuous story—the four trays in this collection were cut from the same reclaimed spruce board, meaning you can see the grain pattern flow from piece to piece. Similarly, all pear bowls come from different branches of the same tree, creating a family of related but individual pieces.
